My first sewing class was back when I was ten years old, but I wasn't interested much at the time and didn't pursue sewing further. I later went to college at BYU-Idaho and roomed with my older sister. She had taken a children's sewing class and had the opportunity to make a beautiful blessing gown. When I looked at what she had made, I said to myself, "I'm going to do that too!" So I signed up for the class and found that although it was much more difficult than I thought it would be, I really, really enjoyed it! I worked hard in my class and found that if I put forth enough effort, I could make some really special things. :) After that, I bought my own sewing machine so that I could keep up on my skills. I can hardly believe it's already been about eight years now!
Since I started out sewing for children's clothing, I've found that I really enjoy those sewing projects best. Kids clothes are always adorable! Then, a few years ago, I finally came out of my shell and decided to embrace my inner nerd. :) I enjoy many different things! Doctor Who, Star Wars, Disney, Harry Potter, My Little Pony, Miyazaki films, just to name a few. I discovered the art of coslay just a few years ago and absolutely LOVE it! I've tried my hand at sewing some simple cosplay for my family, which has led me to a great idea: Why not make nerdy themed pinafores for babies and toddlers?
And that's how it all began! The pinafores I make are designed to be worn for babies 6-12 months of age as a jumper dress, and then can be worn by toddlers up to 3T as a tunic top. The main reason I loved this idea was because I feel that kids are always growing so fast and they hardly get to have any time in one outfit. But with these pinafores, they can be enjoyed for years! And if that wasn't enough, the pinafores can be worn for both costumes and/or everyday wear! What's not to love about that?!
Have a good time checking out the blog! And if something happens to catch your eye, make sure to read the instructions under the "How to Order" tab at the top of the page. Enjoy!
